What the brands cost when you pay cash

These figures come from the manufacturers' own published pricing.

Semaglutide

Wegovy®

Novo Nordisk publishes a list price of $1,349.02 per package, which is about a 28-day supply. Most cash payers use the manufacturer's self-pay pharmacy instead, where the pens run $349 to $399 a month depending on dose. The daily pill starts at $149 a month through the same program.

Tirzepatide

Zepbound®

Eli Lilly's self-pay program prices Zepbound pens at $299 to $699 a month, rising with the dose. Before self-pay discounts, brand GLP-1 list prices often top $1,000 a month. Either way, the price covers the medication only, not your doctor.

Here is the part cost pages often skip. Brand self-pay prices buy the medication and nothing else. You still need a prescriber, follow-up visits, and someone managing your dose, and those are billed separately.

Compounded semaglutide is prepared by state-licensed pharmacies. It is not reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness, is not the same as commercially available brand-name products, and carries additional risks. Talk with your licensed provider about whether a compounded medication is right for you.

Compounded tirzepatide is prepared by state-licensed pharmacies. Why compounded pricing is different

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide contain the same active ingredients as Wegovy and Zepbound. The difference is who prepares them. A compounding pharmacy (a state-licensed pharmacy that prepares medication to a physician's prescription) makes them, rather than the brand manufacturer.

Our flat monthly membership includes the medication, and current prices are on our pricing page.

The tradeoff is real and worth knowing. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, while the brands are. Dr. Le walks through that choice with you, and if brand is the better fit, we support it through our $100/month à la carte plan.

Why brand cash prices run high

  • List prices are set before any insurance rebates
  • Many insurance plans deny coverage for weight loss
  • Self-pay offers change and can expire
  • Prescriber visits and monitoring are billed on top

Using FSA or HSA funds

Paying with pre-tax dollars can soften the monthly cost. We provide an itemized receipt for every payment, and many patients submit those to their FSA or HSA administrator for reimbursement.

Eligibility rules vary by plan. Some administrators ask for a Letter of Medical Necessity, which is a doctor's note explaining why treatment is medically needed, and Dr. Le can provide one. Check with your plan administrator before you count on reimbursement.

What we provide

  • Itemized receipt for every payment
  • Letter of Medical Necessity when your plan requires one
  • Flat monthly pricing that is easy to document
